In a clarification issued by the District Police, it has been stated that no special vehicle permission passes for use only on the day of the Soorasamharam event during this year's Kanda Sashti festival were issued to anyone.

Following the cancellation order of special vehicle passes, no vehicles were parked at the designated parking areas of Tiruchendur Ideal Vehicle Parking and Vanaparvathi, the police clarified.

Permission Only for Lodge Users

Only a limited number of lodge passes were issued to users who had made advance bookings at over 70 private lodges on TB Road in Tiruchendur two days before the Soorasamharam festival. These were issued only to enable devotees to carry their belongings and to avoid the difficulty of traveling from distant parking areas to the lodges, the explanation stated.

Permission Only for Essential Services

The police informed that only regular permission passes, not special passes, were issued to vehicles carrying out temple maintenance work, electricity staff duties, and transporting essential items like milk and medicine. This practice has been followed every year, the police added.

If private vehicles were parked without permission in front of lodges or any other location, police personnel immediately removed them and took action, it was reported.

The District Police has requested that no one spread false information with the intent of tarnishing the police department's reputation.
